School and community
The 40% of the student population represents 25 different countries and cultures.
Westhill Institute is a Pre-K through grade 12 school located on the western edge of Mexico City. The student population is approximately 60% Mexican nationals and the remaining 40% of the student population represents 25 different countries and cultures. In addition, Westhill has had, since its founding in 1992, an ongoing and vigorous commitment to assisting with the educational requirements of special needs children. Approximately 10% of the student population falls into this category and in school year 2010-2011, nine professional counselors and resource teachers assisted with the challenges of this group.
Most Westhill students come from families of international business or various diplomatic interests. Because we are currently one of only two schools in Mexico City accredited by SACS AdvancED, many graduating students attend universities in the United States, Canada, and other international locations. In addition, Westhill students also represent families involved in local businesses of considerable importance such as Liverpool department stores, Telmex, Telcel and Movistar telephone companies, Bimbo bakery and confectioners, Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola, Jumex juices, Scotia Bank, HSBC, Santander Bank, and Banamex as well as many other smaller but nevertheless important business interests..
westhill cares
Community Action and Responsibility for Every Student, is a community service program
for children in grades 6 to 12 at the Santa Fe Middle and High School Campus.
Students participate in various activities that support two orphanages, a home for senior citizens, and two animal shelters. Fundraising, visiting seniors, helping to care for dogs and cats awaiting adoption, taking special children to community events at the school, helping them with their homework, and caring for them in a loving and compassionate way are only some of the activities in which students participate as a way to share resources, love, and time with those less fortunate.
